Today we reviewed for the science test tomorrow. Students were given an extremely detailed outline by email and hardcopy and I was very clear in the examples I did today. Students should be very well prepared if they study what we discussed. The test is tomorrow, May 18th.

Today students worked on assignment #4. This assignment is due tomorrow. 

Today we covered finding the speed of an object from the slope of its distance vs time graph. You can now complete physics assignment #3 which is due on Monday.

Today we covered graphing experimental results. Students can now complete assignment #3. Assignment #2 is due on Thursday, May 3rd. Assignment #3 is due on Monday, May 7th.

Today we discussed the use of scientific notation in calculations. Students can now complete Physics Assignment #1. This assignment is due on Monday. No late assignments will be accepted once I begin marking the assignments.

Today we covered the rules for significant digits in calculations. For homework do #1-3 on Physics Assignment #1. This assignment will be due next Monday but students should work on it as we move through the material. We will finish the content necessary for #4 and 5 on Thursday.

Today we covered the introduction to significant digits and metric units. For homework students can do #1 on Physics Assignment #1. 

The electromagnetic spectrum is made up of many wavelengths of light. As wavelength increases, frequency decreases. Which of these has a frequency higher than visible light? infra-red waves, UV light, microwaves, or radio waves.

Today we continued with our review for the test which is on Tuesday, April 3rd.

Today we finished the chapter on chemistry. The test will be on Tuesday, April 3rd. Worksheet #15 was due today. Worksheet #16 is due on Monday, March 26th. 

Today we began the last section on types of reactions and predicting products. Worksheets #14 and 15 are due no later than Tuesday.

Today students worked on completing worksheets 14 and 15. The last topic for this unit will be covered next class so students are reminded that there will be a test coming up soon. Also, all outstanding worksheets must be in by Thursday of this week so they can be marked for the upcoming report cards. Any worksheets not handed in at that time will receive a mark of zero.

Today we continued with balancing equations. Tomorrow you will be allowed to work on worksheet #14. This worksheet must be handed in at the end of class so make sure you are in a position to complete it within class time. You should have already completed #1-5 on that sheet.

Today we discussed writing and balancing equations. For homework do #5 on worksheet #14.

Today we finished the section on evidence of chemical reactions, endo and exothermic reactions and we began balancing chemical equations. For homework so #1-4 on worksheet #14.

Today we covered operational definitions and began the section on chemical change. There is no homework assigned tonight but students are reminded that worksheets up to #13 are past due. If you haven't handed them in please do so as soon as possible.

Today students worked on worksheet #13. This should be completed at home and handed in no later than Monday.

Today was quiz #3. We also covered Naming Acids. Please do the top half of worksheet #12.

Today we covered writing molecular formulas for molecular compounds. The rest of class was spent working on worksheets 10 and 11. You may also have some of tomorrow's class to finish. There will be a quiz on naming and writing formulas for ionic and molecular compounds next Monday.

Today we began naming of molecular compounds. For homework please start working on worksheet #10. We fill finish it next class. Also, all outstanding worksheets from 1-8 must be handed in by Monday if you want credit. You may rewrite quiz #2 if you like. It must be rewritten next week and in order to be eligible for a rewrite you must have submitted worksheets 6,7&8.

Today was quiz #2. If you have not handed in worksheets 6,7 and 8 please have them in by Monday at the latest. I reserve the right to NOT accept them for credit after Monday, Feb 13th.

Today we covered the naming and writing formulas of hydrate compounds. The notes can be found on the handout you received last week. Worksheets 6,7and 8 were due today. Please remember that you have a quiz on naming and writing formulas for ionic compounds tomorrow.

Today we did a quick review of quiz #1 and a review for quiz #2. Quiz #2 will be on Thursday. Anyone wanting to rewrite quiz #1 should be prepared to do it on Thursday after the second quiz unless you make alternate arrangements with me. The option to rewrite quiz #1 is only available this week. If you miss your chance you won't get another on. Also, worksheets 6,7& 8 must be handed in by tomorrow.

Today we continued with the examples on writing empirical formulas. You may now complete worksheets 6,7and 8. These will be due next Wednesday. There will also be a quiz on Thursday on these topics.

Today we finished the section on naming ionic compounds and began writing empirical formulas. You can now finish worksheet #6 which will be due later this week. There will be a quiz on Friday covering the material on worksheets 1,2, and 5. If you haven't handed in worksheet #5 please do so as soon as possible.

Today we worked on worksheet #5. This worksheet it to be handed in on Wednesday. Please be sure to read all the instructions carefully.

Today we covered the notes on covalent bonds and Lewis diagrams. Students can now do worksheet #5. Time will be given next class to finish this worksheet.

Today we finished the notes on ionic bonding and began molecular compounds. If you have not finished the third page of worksheet #4 please finish for homework and hand in next class.

Today we finished up the notes on valence electrons and ion formation. For homework please complete worksheet #4. This is not to be handed in. We will go over the answers next class.

Today we went over worksheet #3 and discussed electron transfer and ion formation. Worksheets 1&2 are due tomorrow and worksheet #4 should be completed for Monday. #4 will not be handed in, we'll just go over the answers next class.

Today we discussed the Bohr model of the atom and how to construct Bohr diagrams. Coplete worksheet #3 for next class. This does not need to be handed in but it must be finished. Keep in mind that worksheets #1&2 must be handed in on Friday as assignments.

Today we discussed the periodic table. Please complete worksheets #1&2 to be handed in for marks on Friday. Don't leave these until the last minute, there's lots there. Hopefully you got a good start on it during the allotted time today in class.

Today we covered notes on compounds and elements. For homework please do #1 on Worksheet #1. We will work on this worksheet again next class and it will have to be handed in. A due date will be set next class. Worksheet #1 is found in the workbook that was handed out last class. This workbook must come with you to class every day since we will be using it regularly. If you do not do #1 for homework be sure to bring your textbook to the next class.

Today we reviewed unit 1. For review and practice see the handouts given in class.

Today was the test on unit 2. Exam review will begin next week.

Today we went over how to plot scientific graphs. For homework please finish your lab questions and hand them in next class.

Today we conducted our lab on heat capacities. Tomorrow's class will be allotted for lab write-up and test review. Remember that the test on the weather unit is this Friday, December 2nd at 9 am!

Today we finished the notes for the unit on weather. The test will be next Friday. We will be doing our lab on Monday.

Today we discussed the upcoming lab on Monday and got as far as the four classifications of air masses in the notes. If you did not finish it in class please read page 498 in the text and write a paragraph describing the technology used in weather prediction and how that technology has improved our ability to forecast the weather.

Today we finished clouds and moved into global weather systems. For homework do a little research and find out what types of land forms tend to occur around 30 degrees of latitude. 

Today we covered the section on cloud formation and classification. If you didn't hand in your photo assignment today please email it to me this afternoon. I handed out an assignment on Energy Transfer today. This assignent is due next Monday, November 21st. 

Today we finished the section on energy and the water cycle. Nex class we will begin the section on clouds. Remember that the photo assignment is due on Monday and if you didn't write the quiz today you will write it on Monday as well.

Today we continued through the weather section as far as the Hydrosphere. Remember that the photo assignment is due on Monday. There will be a short quiz this Thursday on the material covered so far.

Today we covered Kinetic Molecular Theory up to the layers of the atmosphere. For homework do #1-6, 8, and 10 on page 507.

Today we began the section on Energy Transfers Affecting Weather. For homework please do #1-8 on page 503 in the text. The assignment on Photos of weather is due on November 14th(Monday).

Today we finished watching the video Food Inc. Tomorrow we will begin the next unit on weather.

Today we reviewed for the test on FRIDAY! Remember that you're responsible for all the material we've covered in class, notes, on assignments and in presentations to date. I handed out a review sheet. We will complete this tomorrow and you will hand it in at the end of class. If you think you may not get it done in one class then get a head start tonight.

Today we finished the notes for Unit 1. Assignment #2 is due tomorrow and the unit 1 test will be next Friday, Oct 28th. 

Today we began the section on cycling of matter. Notes are available in hardcopy from Ms. Martin. Test next Friday (Oct 28th), Assignment #2 is due this Friday (Oct 21st).

Today we did Quiz #2. The remainder of class was spent discussing the previous day's debates. Please keep in mind that assignment #2 will be due at the end of the week. The test on this whole unit will be next Friday, October 28th. 

Today we concluded the presentations on Pesticides and Genetically Modified crops. Tomorrow there is a quiz on the material so far and will be followed by a discussion of the presentations. Test next week!

The debate on pesticide use will take place on Wednesday Oct 12th. The debate on genetically modified crops will take place on Thursday Oct 14th. All groups ust submit the group summany and individual participation summary no later than Monday, Oct 17th. Please communicate with your group to make sure you are ready for the debates!

Today we started the assignmend on Scientific Debate. In your groups you should now have an idea of your individual roles and group objectives. Please continue your researtch and preparation on your own. You will have one more class to work together and then you have to be prepared to present to the class next week.

Today we continued with the section on energy. Assignment #2 was handed out and you can now so #1-10 in the multiple choice and #3 and 4 in the long answer.

Today we finished the section on Ecology. There will be a quiz next Wednesday. Assignment #1 is due on Monday. Also for homework please read pages 40-44 in your text and come up with examples for primary and secondary succession.

Assignment #1 was handed out today and is to be handed in by Monday, Sept 23rd.
