Today we reviewed for the science test tomorrow. Students were given an extremely detailed outline by email and hardcopy and I was very clear in the examples I did today. Students should be very well prepared if they study what we discussed. The test is tomorrow, May 18th.

Today we discussed the use of scientific notation in calculations. Students can now complete Physics Assignment #1. This assignment is due on Monday. No late assignments will be accepted once I begin marking the assignments.

Today we covered the rules for significant digits in calculations. For homework do #1-3 on Physics Assignment #1. This assignment will be due next Monday but students should work on it as we move through the material. We will finish the content necessary for #4 and 5 on Thursday.

Today we covered the introduction to significant digits and metric units. For homework students can do #1 on Physics Assignment #1. 

The electromagnetic spectrum is made up of many wavelengths of light. As wavelength increases, frequency decreases. Which of these has a frequency higher than visible light? infra-red waves, UV light, microwaves, or radio waves. 

Bonus mark to the first person to email me the correct answer.

Today students worked on completing worksheets 14 and 15. The last topic for this unit will be covered next class so students are reminded that there will be a test coming up soon. Also, all outstanding worksheets must be in by Thursday of this week so they can be marked for the upcoming report cards. Any worksheets not handed in at that time will receive a mark of zero.

Also, all outstanding worksheets from 1-8 must be handed in by Monday if you want credit. You may rewrite quiz #2 if you like. It must be rewritten next week and in order to be eligible for a rewrite you must have submitted worksheets 6,7&8.

Anyone wanting to rewrite quiz #1 should be prepared to do it on Thursday after the second quiz unless you make alternate arrangements with me. Today we discussed the upcoming lab on Monday and got as far as the four classifications of air masses in the notes. If you did not finish it in class please read page 498 in the text and write a paragraph describing the technology used in weather prediction and how that technology has improved our ability to forecast the weather.
